Walnut Bars // Like Pecan Bars, these Walnut Bars are a nutty favorite for many. They are rich and wonderful and oh so perfect to take to any get together! | Tried and Tasty
We eat a lot of treats a work. Every Friday morning there is something new. Sue made these Walnut Bars once and wasn’t really planning on it to begin with. She started with another recipe, and realized she didn’t have all of the ingredients halfway through making them. So she finished them anyway and they turned out awesome. Pretty much you can’t go wrong with sweetened condensed milk. Nuff said.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1/2 c. butter softened not melted
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. flour

Topping

  • 1 can 14 oz. Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 c. walnuts chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

  2. Cut softened butter with a pastry blender or fork into flour and brown sugar until crumbly and well combined. Press into the bottom of an 8x11 baking pan.

  3. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven.

  4. Pour can of sweetened condensed milk over top of crust. Top with chopped walnuts evenly over surface.

  5. Bake for an additional 15 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and cut into squares.

Recipe Notes

[My 2 Cents]
Depending on the thickness you are looking for of the bars, you can change sizes of the pan. I used a 9x9 and I thought it was the perfect thickness. I made small squares and it made approx 20 bars, which was nice since they are a little rich!

I just made these and they were so good! I had some leftover walnuts I needed to get rid of and this did the trick. So tasty and gooey!
