I’m always on the lookout for a low-sugar snack or dessert to curb my sweet to. Boy do I have a serious sweet tooth. When I was at the grocery store the other day in the produce section the grapefruit caught my eye. I haven’t had a grapefruit in a really long time. I figured I’d pick one up and give it a whirl. Somehow I remembered seeing somewhere a broiled grapefruit. So I gave it a try. Loved it! It’s just a touch better than a raw grapefruit because the sugar is melted over the juicy flesh of the fruit. YUM!

Broiled Grapefruit
Broiled Grapefruit is a delicious low-sugar sweet treat that you don't have to feel guilty about!
Ingredients
- 1 large grapefruit
- 1 tbsp. raw sugar
Instructions
-
Trim 1/4–1/2" of peel from bottom of each grapefruit half to stabilize the fruit (being careful not to cut in to the juicy meat of the fruit). Place grapefruit, cut side down, on paper towels to dry for 5 minutes.
-
Invert grapefruit and sprinkle 1/2 tbsp. sugar evenly over the top of each grapefruit half. Preheat broiler.
-
Transfer grapefruit cut side up to a foil-lined baking sheet. Broil grapefruit, watching closely to prevent burning, until the sugar is melted (approx. 8-10 minutes). Let grapefruit cool before serving.
