The Ultimate Strawberry Shortcake is the most delicious strawberry shortcake you'll ever sink your teeth into. It's the perfect summertime dessert that will leave you wanting more!

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 large cool whip thawed
  • 1 pkg. 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 16 oz. pkg fresh strawberries or 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries
  • 1 pkg. strawberry danish dessert

Instructions

  1. Bake cake according to directions on box. Let cool.

  2. Wash & slice fresh strawberries or defrost frozen strawberries strawberries; set aside.

  3. Mix together cool whip with 1/2 c. powdered sugar; set aside.

  4. Blend cream cheese with 1 c. powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Add cool whip to cream cheese and cream together. 

  5. Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over cooled cake. Make danish dessert as directed with 1 1/2 c. cold water instead of 1 3/4 c.

  6. Cool slightly and fold in strawberries. Pour over cream cheese mixture. 

  7. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Makes 1 cookie sheet.

Recipe Notes

[My 2 Cents]
You can make your cake in a cookie sheet, 9x13, (2) 9x9's, or (2) 8x8's depending on the thickness you are going for. I personally prefer a thick cake, but really it's just personal preference!
Never heard of “danish dessert”? Well neither had I until this recipe. It can be found near the Jell-o and pie crust in the baking aisle of the grocery store.
