It’s nearly the end of burger month. All month long I have been focused on all things burgers! At the beginning of the month I tagged teamed ‘burger week’ with Jesseca from One Sweet Appetite. The week started off with my Queso Blanco Cinco de Mayo Burger, then my Mouth Watering Tasty Reuben Burger, followed by the wildly popular Guacamole Bacon Burger, a delicious Sautéed Mushroom & Swiss Burger with Caramelized Onions and finally my Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burger! You’ll have to check out Jesseca’s lineup as well, she had some pretty great burgers for the week too!
Since then I’ve posted lots of side dishes that pair nicely with burgers and desserts that are the perfect way to finish the meal off. But I’ve got ONE more recipe for you to round it out. I started the month with bun recipes. I’m going to finish the month with a bun recipe. But, what’s a burger without a bun? That’s where Rhodes comes in to play! Did you know you can make hamburger buns at home using Rhodes products? To kick of National Burger Month I went a little crazy with my hamburger bun creations. It all began with my Quick & Easy Cheater Hamburger Buns, Then my Whole Wheat Kaiser Hamburger Buns, and then Easy Poppyseed Kaiser Hamburger Buns: ALL of which are made using Rhodes Rolls! Love that all of the hard work of the bread making is done for you, all you have to do is shape ’em and bake ’em! TODAY’s bun is a fun ‘twist’ {pun intended} on the kaiser, that brings together the white roll and the cracked wheat roll.
Be sure to check out all these delicious recipes, too:
White & Wheat Swirl Hamburger Buns
White & Wheat Swirl Hamburger Buns are a fun "twist" (see what I did there?) on the kaiser roll!
Ingredients
- 12 Rhodes Texas rolls thawed but still cold (mixture of white and cracked wheat)
- flour
- 1 egg beaten
- sesame or poppy seeds if desired
Instructions
-
Combine two rolls and roll into a 12-inch rope. Roll rope in flour.
-
Tie each rope into an overhand knot. Bring one end of the dough over the top and tuck down into the middle. Bring the other end of the dough through the center, going the opposite way.
-
Place on a large sprayed baking sheet. If desired, brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
-
Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and let rise until double in size.
-
Remove wrap and bake at 350°F 15-20 minutes.
