Do you know how crazy easy it is to make a homemade coleslaw recipe at home? Ridiculously easy. I don’t know why I thought it would be complicated. I don’t know that I really thought much about it at all. My dad has been on a crazy KFC kick (I’ve tried talking him out of it) and buys the coleslaw almost every time as his side dish of choice. Although I must admit it’s pretty tasty, I can tell you right now I don’t want to know what’s in their coleslaw recipe. Or do I? No. I don’t. It’s just better that I make my own. In a controlled environment you can adjust the sugars and things. At a restaurant? Not so much.
Can you tell that I’m in the mood for warmer temps, eating outside, and summer foods? Between my Mom’s Best Potato Salad, Mom’s Best Macaroni Salad, and this Quick & Easy Homemade Coleslaw Recipe you are just about set. Not quite. I’ve still got lots of great recipes up my sleeve that I know you will love! Stick around, you won’t want to miss them!

Thanks for the coleslaw recipient, its the first time I made it from scratch an its great with left over meatloaf on a sandwich!
I tried this for the first time tonight for dinner. It turned out great, my husband and father-in-law loved it as did myself. I would definitely recommend this to my family and friends.
This has been my go-to recipe all Summer…its excellent and better the next day. I like to chop my cole slaw mix in the Cuisinart rather than leave it shredded. I think that makes it ‘Dixie Style’ Thanks for the recipe!
Coleslaw immediately makes me think of my Grandma! I love Coleslaw, but have to confess, I’ve never made it from scratch. I think it may be time to change that! ;)
You’ve found the two things I refuse to eat: coleslaw and potato salad…. But again, if it’s a controlled environment and I know exactly what’s in it, maybe I wouldn’t hate it? Open your mind Kaylynn…. try it….

I’ll try this recipe tonight. Can it be made with red cabbage as well?
Yvonne
Hmm, that’s a great question – I’ve never tried! I wonder if red cabbage would be a little more bitter?
Just made this. It seems slightly bland. I will wait to see how it tastes after I refrigerate it for a few hours.
Yvonne
Oh no! Hopefully your flavor was enhanced after letting it sit, I know my family LOVED this recipe!
Cassie
Do you not add carrots? I thought that goes in as well.
Yvonne
The shredded cabbage I bought had the carrots included in the mix – if yours doesn’t, you’ll want to add shredded carrots!

I love cole slaw as much as potato and mac salad! Basically, there isn’t a side dish I don’t love during BBQ season!
Yvonne
Me too!! So many great sides.. so little room in my belly!
