I say this over and over again on Tried and Tasty: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Heck. I don’t just say it around here. You hear that everywhere! In fact, I’m so passionate about it, I created my FREE eBook around my favorite meal of the day. If you have snagged yourself a copy of my 10 Superfoods for Breakfast: Super fast. Super easy. Super Tasty you better get your hands on it! I’ve been seeing all over the internet freezer smoothie packs and I’ve been dying to make them. I’m always, I repeat ALWAYS rushing out the door to work. No matter how early I get up, I’m always rushing. In doing so, if I’m not prepared ahead of time you can forget about anything nutritious. That’s why these smoothie packs are perfect. You prep a bunch of them in advance and then when you’re ready you dump everything in a blender, add your liquid and in less than five minutes you’ve got yourself a great start to your day!
Show of hands how many of you have a FoodSaver® System? Ever heard of it? I love, love, LOVE it! It’s the #1 Vacuum Sealing System. Back when I was getting married my bridesmaids all pooled their money to get me one of these babies for one of my bridal showers. I was over the moon ecstatic! Where I love to shop in bulk, it was perfect for me helping me to waste less food. Over the years we’ve gotten a lot (and I mean a LOT of use out of it). Everything from our meats of course to even sealing our fresh vegetable juice – a lifesaver! You probably saw me mention my FoodSaver® Appliance in my ‘Juicing: Everything You Need To Know’ post. I’m telling you, this little gem gets used at our house. When POPSUGAR Select sent me the *new* FoodSaver® V4865 2-In-1 Vacuum Sealing System I was thrilled!
If you’ve ever contemplated getting one yourself, let me tell you why you should definitely get one! Life is busy and sadly, as much as we try to avoid it, our food goes bad and spoils much quicker than we anticipate. Did you know the FoodSaver® V4865 2-In-1 Vacuum Sealing System keeps food fresh up to 5x longer? It’s been calculated to save up to $2700 per year based on buying in bulk, on sale and preventing waste! Holy fazoli! That should sell you right there! A really neat feature is that it’s fully-automatic operation uses exclusive technology to automatically sense the bag and food-type to create a perfect, airtight seal. Pretty high tech right? You just slide the bag in and it knows it’s there! That was pretty mind-blowing the first time I tried it! “The innovative V4865 2-in-1 Vacuum Sealing System combines both heat-seal and handheld vacuuming capabilities in one unit – giving you “More Ways to Seal. More Ways to Save™.”
- 2-in-1 Sealing System
- Built-in retractable handheld sealer seals zipper bags, canisters, containers and marinates food in minutes

Pretty neat right? With that said – lets get to making our smoothie packs shall we? I’m showing you one recipe that you can make but the possibilities are endless. The basics are this: frozen fruit, your greens (I used spinach), frozen yogurt, and a bit of extra nutrition with your preferred vanilla protein powder & chia seeds. Add it to your freezer bag, seal it up, and it’s ready to grab – pour – blend first thing in the morning with your liquid of choice (I used coconut milk). Pretty easy peasy if you ask me! Give it a try and let me know what you think! I promise if you were on the fence about getting a FoodSaver® System you won’t regret it. For this recipe and many, many, MANY more ways to preserve your food!
