This Homemade Mesquite BBQ sauce has the flavor of your store bought favorites without the yucky additives! | Tried and TastyContinuing my BBQ Basics Made in a Blender series, I’ve already brought you my Savory Garlic Butter & Bruschetta Turkey Burgers, Homemade Fry Sauce & Crinkle Cut Sweet Potato Fries, Homemade Ranch Dressing & Ultimate Cobb Salad. When it comes to bbq sauce I didn’t used to care what I ate. I didn’t pay attention much to labels. My absolute favorite used to be Sweet Baby Rays. LOVED it. Then I looked at the ingredient label. First ingredient: high fructose corn syrup. 16g of sugar. EEK. I wasn’t overly excited about the ‘caramel color’ and ‘sodium benzoate’ either. So we ditched that. Quickly.

We now LOVE Stubbs. Love, love, LOVE Stubbs.  No HFCS and 8g of sugar (in the smokey Mesquite). A pretty spot on ingredient list too. We found another brand of BBQ sauce that is super yummy too at Costco, but has kind of a lot of sugar (no wonder we loved it). With as much as we grill and enjoy one of our favorite go-to meals (chicken w/BBQ sauce & steamed broccoli) I have been wanting to try my hand at making my own sauce. It was beyond simple and turned out awesome. I slightly adapted the recipe from one of my favorite bloggers, Alli from Gimme Some Oven (LOVE her!!) and absolutely love the flavor of the sauce. If you’ve never used all natural mesquite liquid smoke you are in for a surprise. It’s unreal at how much the scent resembles so many of your favorite mesquite recipes!

I have to say this is five stars. I did add a bunch of jalapeños to it to make it spicy. Thanks so much. I just told my family it’s as good as I have ever had….and I have had a lot! 🤓

This is soooo good!😋 We made this for our son’s wedding and everyone loved it! The taste and consistency are spot on. From now on, this is our “go to” recipe for BBQ sauce. Thank you for such a ‘clean’ recipe.👍

Thank you for the recipe, it is really very good and all of the ingredients are usually things that we keep on hand. I love not having all that corn syrup and preservatives in my food. Also in case anyone is curious, I used an equal amount of honey powder (1/3 c.) because I didn’t have any liquid honey and it worked like a charm without having to add any additional water..
