I love every recipe I share with you here, but this recipe – this recipe is a whole new level of love. I’m not a soda drinker, but have been in the past so I can definitely admit that there are some days that I miss it. When I became accustomed to Kombucha, I declared that it was my soda… since the effervescence and bubbles reminded me so much of soda. When I final alternatives I cling right on to them. One of the drinks I used to love oh so much were lime rickeys. Love, love, love lime rickeys (especially cherry). Over the last week I’ve been brainstorming green recipes (too bad it isn’t St. Patrick’s Day week huh?) and one of the things I thought of was some sort of grape smoothie. I had bought all the green things I could find previously: grapes, limes, kiwi, key lime yogurt, avocados, and spinach. I had also picked up some white grape juice, sparkling water, and ice.
Sometimes the best recipes just come to me. On my way home work one day I thought – you know what sounds good? A lime rickey. You know what would make it green? Grapes! So I walked straight into the kitchen and started throwing things in my blender. I pressed the ‘whole juice’ button and 60 seconds later I dove a spoon in to see what I had created. A masterpiece! It was absolutely delicious and I was SO thrilled. Since it is a frozen drink I went right to work taking pictures. I was not only racing against the slushy melting but also against the light (I’m a sucker for natural light). Once I got all the shots I needed I downed this sucker! It was soooooo good! That was earlier in the week, then on Friday I took the ingredients to test on some of my best friends. The verdict? Everyone loved it!!! Even the three year old… so it’s kid friendly too: SCORE! I hope you’ll make it, and if you do I’m sure you’ll love it! I’ve also tried with red grapes – and both are equally delicious!
