Why do you need them? Your guests will love this perfect combo! | Tried and TastyOur dining and entertaining series is underway! Did you catch my Vanilla Rosemary Lemonade? How about the Edible Gift In A Jar: Five Bean Vegetarian Soup Mix? No? Be sure to hop over and give them a looksy. You definitely don’t want to miss them. When hosting a party hors d’oeuvres are great if your meal isn’t quite ready by the time your guests arrive. If you’re anything like me, then that is most of the time. I swear I’ll never understand how my mom mastered the art of having everything ready for a big meal (think Thanksgiving and Christmas) at the same time. All hot. All delicious. How did she do that? It’s a feat I hope to one day accomplish. In the meantime, I’ll serve things like this cheese board to keep my guests satisfied until dinner.

What you’re looking for when building the perfect cheese board (I used the IKEA SKOGSTA chopping board) are a few key components. You’ll want cheese of course a combination of hard cheese, soft cheese, and aged cheese, plus cured meat (I used salami), something sweet like grapes and honey, something salty like mixed nuts, and lastly crackers to bring it all together. This board is the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and salty. Great little nibbles that are an excellent glimpse of what’s to come. Perfect centerpiece to gather the crowd. A wonderful way to draw your guests together for chit chat, laughs, and distractions as everything else almost seamlessly comes together. At least that’s what you want everyone to think. Those of us behind the scenes know the truth… but it’s worth every ounce of energy when the party is pulled off and you get to sit back and enjoy!
