Skinny{er} Homemade Alfredo Sauce // This Alfredo sauce is easy, creamy, and delicious! | Tried and Tasty

Who says you need fettuccine for alfredo? Well. I had every intention of making fettucine alfredo when I realized I couldn’t find any fettucine noodles anywhere in my pantry. So I used angel hair pasta! I’ve been on the hunt for a good alfredo sauce recipe for a while now and I’m pretty excited about this one! It’s lightened up a bit, with the hint of richness from a bit of cream cheese. Overall, it’s a much healthier option than your typical alfredo sauce recipe.

Skinny{er} Homemade Alfredo Sauce // This Alfredo sauce is easy, creamy, and delicious! | Tried and Tasty This alfredo sauce recipe is so quick to throw together. It’s creamy, and delicious and absolutely perfect. Serve with your favorite noodles, garnish with a little bit of parmesan cheese and you are good to go. Want to add a little something? Top it with sliced grilled chicken breast and you’ve got a killer meal. A little pasta. A little salad. A little bread. You’ve got an amazing dinner!

This Homemade Alfredo Sauce has a healthy twist, using Greek Yogurt instead of Heavy Cream.

Print

Ingredients

  • 1 c. half and half
  • 3/4 c. plain Greek yogurt
  • 4 oz. cream cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Dash black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth (my Blendtec has a "soup" setting and that's what I used). Pour into a saucepan and cook until hot, stirring frequently. Serve over your favorite whole grain pasta and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

I prefer a thicker sauce, so I added 1 tbsp. of cornstarch mixed with 1/4 c. cold water to the sauce as it was heating. Brought it to a boil and simmered it for a couple of minutes before serving. It thickened to the perfect consistency!

I am trying a new recipe tonight that calls for jarred Alfredo sauce (yuck) and I thought I remembered seeing this post! I am SO glad I did! This sounds so simple, delicious, and much healthier then from a jar. It will also help “lighten” up my recipe that also calls for lots of cheese!

I just made alfredo last night (although there is nothing skinny about my recipe), Mmmmm One of my favorites! I did enjoy some leftovers with spaghetti squash tonight though, so that’s a bit better, right?

What are the odds? I do love me a fattening alfredo every now and again.. but I like having the lighter option too. Spaghetti squash for the win!

i have always loved Alfredo but in the recent years have avoided it to try and make healthy choices. now THIS is an alfredo recipe I can see myself being totally okay with!! Looks delicious!
