It’s the new year. Have you made resolutions? While I’m a huge lover of the traditional green smoothie I have been wanting to try something else lately. I’m a summer girl and in the winter I often feel drab. The days are short, the air is (bitter) cold and I just don’t find my snow boots fashionable or comfortable. I love the long hot days of summer, the warm air, and all of the outdoor activities. Winter just makes me want to be at home cuddled under a blanket 24/7. Do you have the same struggles? In developing this recipe I had one goal in mind. I wanted to create something that could help beat the winter blues. Something bright, light, delicious and healthy.

I wanted it to be smooth and creamy so I went with the Greek yogurt. I would definitely recommend going with plain as the fruit and Martinelli’s Apple Juice or Cider will add all of the sweetness that you need. You certainly can go with vanilla if that’s your preference as well. To be able to omit the ice and still have a cold smoothie I recommend using frozen fruit. We usually buy our bananas in bulk and then batch freeze them to have on hand for smoothies. The only fruit you’ll have to add fresh will be the orange (be sure to peel it first). Because I wanted a pure and high quality juice I opted to go with Martinell’s Apple Juice (can also use the Martinelli’s Apple Cider). The great thing about Martinelli’s is that it’s made with 100% juice from U.S. grown fresh apples! For a bit of added nutrition I threw in some chia seeds and turmeric. Then all you need to do is blend and enjoy!
