3rd Annual IKEA BYOF {Bring Your Own Friend} Event // Tried and Tasty

So many fun things are happening here at Tried and Tasty! I am a huge fan of IKEA. I’ve made so many purchases there I couldn’t even begin to tell you what my favorite product is. Our computer desk and bookshelves are among the most used. Many, many, MANY things in my kitchen are from IKEA. I have yet to be disappointed with any of my purchases. When I was approached and asked if I would be interested in doing a demo you better believe I jumped at the opportunity!

If you are a local and haven’t made plans yet for Saturday March 8th, I’d love to meet you! Here’s the agenda for the day. My demo is at 2:00 pm. I will be showing you this quick and easy recipe for Candy Bar Caramel Apple Salad showcasing many of IKEA’s fabulous products including the grater with handle, measuring cups, apple slicer, whisk, rubber spatulas, chefs knife, and cutting board

The larger of the two mixing bowls was the perfect size to whip up my pudding and cool whip. The measuring cups are light yet durable. I don’t know about you, but I am a firm believer that you can never have too many sets of measuring cups and measuring spoons. I think I’m up to six different sets currently in my kitchen drawer!

A whisk is one of those kitchen staples that you can use for so many things. Whether it be incorporating dry ingredients together or whipping up batters. The whisk is helpful for all.

What I like about the rubber spatulas is that they are durable. Like the measuring cups and spoons, I also feel like there’s no such thing as too many spatulas. The other wonderful thing about IKEA is how affordable everything is. These spatulas are only $0.99 each!

My husband and I go through more apples than you can probably imagine. We eat a lot of peanut butter and apples for a snack, as well as throw an apple or two in to our fresh vegetable juice to sweeten it up a bit. The blade on this apple slicer is nice and the curved handles allow for a more even cut. For a recipe like this it helps prep your apples in a jiffy.

I am in LOVE with this chef’s knife and bamboo butcher block. The knife cut through the apples like they were butter. Quite literally. It was such a smooth cut.

The smaller of the two mixing bowls was perfect for holding my chopped apples. I drizzled a little bit of lemon juice over them, gently tossed them around for an even coating and they were ready to use!

If you’ve never had one of IKEA’s Milk Chocolate Bar with Nuts (Hazelnut Bar) you are missing out.  They are rich and velvety and hazelnutty wonderful. The perfect addition to this candy bar salad. I was able to break up the candy pieces with ease using the chopper. Not only does it make chopping simple, it’s also very easy to clean.

I will make my kids favorite called Snicker salad. It is probably pretty close to this recipe you will be demoing on Saturday, but with Snicker bars so it adds nuts too! I have never been to IKEA, but have wanted to. I may just have to sneek on up there Saturday by 2. You are my excuse.

That’s the recipe I adapted this from – I wanted to incorporate IKEA products, so I swapped the Snickers for the IKEA chocolate bars and they are AMAZING! You should definitely stop by, I LOVE IKEA! RSVP and you’ll get coupons :)

I am kicking myself for not doing this event! Those hazelnut chocolate bars are to die for! I need more! I would make apples with a hazelnut chocolate cream cheese dip!
