Strawberry Shortcake

Oh. Yea. This is what I’m talking about. PERFECT dessert for a holiday. With Easter coming up, why not make this to take with you to your dinner party? Or have for your guests? You won’t be disappointed. It’s delicious. I know it’s so much easier to buy a pre-made angel food cake… but I can guarantee you it won’t taste as good as this will! Does this qualify as a recipe? I say it does!

Gracie requested Strawberry Shortcake for her birthday party on Saturday and this looks DELICIOUS! ‘Mom’s Pound Cake’ recipe is a little intimidating to me though. Should I leave ALL the ingredients out for awhile before baking? And when you say to tap the bottom of the pan to make sure it’s solid . . . will an inexperienced baker know what that sounds like?? I think I’ll give it a try on Thursday in case I fail and have to resort to something less delicious like boxed cake mix :)

Steph, This is awesome – you should definitely try it, and let me know how it turns out! Don’t let the recipe intimidate you, it’s actually quite easy. Since the butter is already measured when you set it out to room temperature, as with the sour cream – everything else you just basically blend together. I updated the recipe to clarify, I left out the butter, eggs and sour cream.

As far as solid – just make sure it’s not jiggly. When you lightly tap on it you want it to be firm. I actually ended up cooking mine for 20 extra minutes until it was solid and it turned out perfect. Just check to see when it’s right for your oven.

Give it a try! I have faith in you :)

This is one of my all-time favorite desserts! I will have to try making my own pound cake…I usually just buy it, and it’s never as good! I might have to borrow your pan though :0)
