Brookies

Hahhahaha, I made that name up! Or maybe I didn’t. It sounded exactly like what they are: brownies + cookies = brookies. I’m sure I’m not the first to come up with this creation, and as a matter of fact I know I’m not. Betty Crocker makes a cookie brownie bar that inspired me to make this. I figured I didn’t really need the product to make these (well, I sorta didn’t need it – I still used a boxed brownie mix!) These were great warm with vanilla ice cream!

1 box brownie mix, any brand, any variation
1 batch chocolate chip cookie dough

Preheat oven to 350. Prepare brownies according to package directions. In a greased 9×13 baking pan add brownie batter. Spoon heaping tablespoonfuls of cookie dough sporadically over brownie batter. Bake 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

So good!!! Mine turned out as more brownie than cookie, which….don’t get me wrong….is so yummy, but next time I need to make sure it’s more cookie than brownie. Anyway…..so good!

I think I used a whole batch of chocolate chip cookies when I made them and I thought they were too much cookie – that’s kind of funny! They are good however you balance them :)

Made a double batch of these “Brookies” for a dessert auction to help a friend earn funds for a mission trip. Can hardly wait to have some for ourselves! Okay… we did have one…. of course we couldn’t donate them if they weren’t delicious! :-)
We brought them along with a dessert pizza, mondo krispy bars, and Grandma Rita’s old fashioned poundcake… What a night of baking! Daughter made them all look almost as good as your site pics….Pizza sized platters wrapped in clear cellophane with silver bows… What fun! Let’s get together and bake and eat sometime!
