Ingredients

  • 2 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c. packed light brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. butter or margarine cold
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • 2 c. 12 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 c. coarsely chopped nuts
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 3/4 c. 10 oz. SKOR English Toffee Bits, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 in. baking pan.

  2. Stir together flour and brown sugar in large bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender (very important not to use softened or melted butter) until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Add egg; mix well. Stir in 1 1/2 c. chocolate chips and 1 c. nuts. Reserve 1 1/2 c. mixture. Press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of prepared pan. Bake 10 minutes.

  4. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over hot crust. Top with 1 1/2 c. toffee bits. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining 1/2 c. chips over top. Bake 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 c. toffee bits. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

Recipe Notes

[My 2 Cents]
What I've found is it's best to make the bars one day and then cut them the next. That way you assure that they are completely cooled and also they are much easier to cut once they've set for a while.

Thank you Yvonne! I’ve been doing all that in the kitchen for over 50 years. I’m “in the zone” while in my kitchen, even more so this time of the year. Always looking for new recipes and this one I can’t wait to try.
